Computer Vision Syndrome and Digital Eye Strain
Evaluation and management of visual and ocular symptoms associated with prolonged digital device use, focusing on refractive accuracy, binocular vision, ocular surface stability, and workplace ergonomics.

Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS) and digital eye strain result from prolonged use of digital devices combined with sustained near focusing and reduced blink rate. Patients commonly present with eye fatigue, blurred vision, dryness, headaches, or difficulty maintaining focus.
Assessment includes evaluation of refractive error, accommodation, convergence, binocular vision, and ocular surface health. A review of workplace ergonomics, screen usage patterns, lighting, and break schedules is also conducted.
Management is targeted to address refractive or binocular vision deficiencies, ocular surface issues, and environmental factors. Optical correction, ergonomic advice, screen-use modification, and tear film optimization are implemented where appropriate. Follow-up focuses on symptom resolution and maintaining visual comfort during prolonged digital tasks.
